Though most of my email’s have been about subject matters dealing directly with your shows/site platforms, this email won’t be specifically related. In case you guys weren’t aware, in 3 days the FCC will be making decisions that will affect how the Internet will be maintained, whether by the public sector (the way it is now) or by the private sector (ISP’s acting as gatekeepers for the transport of information on the Internet). If they vote in favor of the private sector, this will affect all of us financially as well as drastically. Basically telephone and cable companies, who run most of the ISPs, want to be able to control the traffic of information on their band with and charge a premium for efficiency to subscribers and service providers (bloggers, p2p, podcasts, etc) . So basically, in a nutshell, if you don’t pay this extra premium, web-surfers will have a hard time accessing your websites and services no matter how fast their Internet connection is because of these “gate-keepers”. Now even though this isn’t a topic most of you would discuss on your shows, it would be good if you could at least mention it, let your other listeners be aware of it and if you could pass this info to other podcasters, bloggers, etc it would be greatly appreciated.
