Former MST3K Members are “The Film Crew”

May 18, 2007 By S. K. Sloan 1 Comment

Shout! Factory proudly announces the debut of its DVD line-up from The Film Crew (Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett–three of the guys behind the cult classic TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000), beginning this summer with “The Film Crew: Hollywood After Dark,” a 1968 film about a down-on-his-luck loner who falls in with the wrong crowd in Tinseltown and finds salvation in the arms of a stripper (Rue McClannahan of TV’s The Golden Girls in her skivvies). “Film Crew: Hollywood After Dark” debuts on DVD July 10, 2007, with a built-in “crew” commentary track and live-action interstitials.

hollywood-after-dark.JPGMike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett–three of the brilliantly insane minds behind the cult classic TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000–finally reunite to unleash their warped sense of humor on the cinema of yesteryear as The Film Crew. Charged with the task of giving all movies their own commentary tracks, the Film Crew valiantly steps forward to tackle the best of the worst, starting with “Hollywood After Dark,” which was chosen as the first release by MST fans in an online contest.

Rue McClanahan (“Golden Girls”) stars in this drama from 1968 as a young actress attempting to make her Hollywood debut. However she falls into the seedy underworld of stripping when she’s exploited by her unsavory producers. We’re sorry to say that there’s no nudity on this one.

Hey guys…just wanted to say I miss y’all. I do a voice overs for animations and cartoons and totally appreciate the art you ALL bring to the table.

Some of the best times in my life were watching MST3K back at my 1st go at college.
