Joe Murphy Wiki Page

April 22, 2007 By Sam Sloan 1 Comment

As many of you are aware our beloved friend and fellow podcaster Joe Murphy died this month of a very rare form of cancer called Leiomyosarcoma. The outpouring of sympathy, and heartfelt wishes from fans across the globe directed toward Joe’s family, his friends, fellow podcasters and associates here has been so wonderful and we wanted to thank you all so much for that.

Also, the response and donations so far to the Joe Murphy Memorial Fund have been very comforting. It really helps to know that there are so many of you who also cared so deeply for this sweet man and want to do what you can to help create research that can put an end to this terrible disease that tends to take lives at their prime.

Others have contacted us here at Slice of SciFi, at Kick-Ass Mystic Ninjas, at Wingin’ It and other shows, wanting to know more about Joe, who he was, how he got started in this crazy business of podcasting and XM Satellite Radio. Well, thanks to a fan named Miquel Lopez, who wanted to help us get the news out about Joe and how more people can help in the Joe Murphy Memorial Fund, a new Wikipedia Joe Murphy entry has been made and more information about Joe is being added to it every day. On the page dedicated to him you will also learn more about Leiomyosarcoma and what you can do to help in the research and development for a cure.

If you haven’t visited the site yet, click on over to “Joe Murphy Podcaster” on Wikipedia and learn all about our friend who is greatly missed by us all.

That is truly awesome! Where else would you be able to see information on someone like Joe.

It’s a shame the page was created after he left. I think he would have been really honored to see it.
