Amanda Tapping & Damian Kindler Drop In for Slice of SciFi Show #099

March 4, 2007 By Sam Sloan 3 Comments

On this week’s podcast and next week’s XM Satellite Radio Show our special guests are actress Amanda Tapping and producer Damian Kindler. Amanda and Damian are long time associates who have worked together on the set of the scifi hit series “Stargate SG-1.” The two have teamed up again for a unique online project called “Sanctuary,” which we reported on back in February on this Website.

Amanda is a native of Essex England, but at the age of three her family moved to Ontario, Canada where she grew up. She is a graduate of the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts and began her acting career almost immediately after graduation. She has appeared in such genre related productions as “Forever Knight,” “Goosebumps,” “The Haunting of Lisa,” the ‘Avatar’ episode of the popular SF hit “The X Files,” “The Outer Limits,” “”Millennium,” “Earthsea,” and so many more — but the role she will always be most remembered for is Samantha Carter on the long-running award-winning scifi series “Stargate SG-1.” Amanda has played Carter, who is now a Col., for all of the ten years of the series’ history and will continue with that role in Season Four of “Stargate: Atlantis” and the two new “Stargate SG-1 films, ‘The Ark of Truth,’ and ‘Continuum,’ currently in pre-production.

She and producer Damian Kindler will talk a little about Stargate, but the main reason we have them on the show is to tell us about this exciting new “Sanctuary” project that will only be available beginning this Spring. Damian created this series about a woman and her daughter that continues the family job of hunting down bizarre creatures and unusual monsters because they become the key to humanity’s future. Tapping’s character and her daughter are themselves anomalies, which she and Damian will talk about on the show. The show may also highlight other Stargate cast members as characters in some of the online episodes.

Kindler and Tapping will serve as Sanctuary’s executive producers along with N. John Smith and director Martin Wood (Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis).

Stop by and give a listen as we continue to bring you some of the best scifi/fantasy/horror news, information and entertainment here at Slice of SciFi. Show #099 becomes available for download on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 and one week later on XM Satellite Radio’s The Sonic Channel.

I am really looking forward to Sanctuary. I think it’s an amazing idea and from those of us who’ve been hanging out in the forum, it looks like you’ve already got a hit on your hands. Beta testers are chomping at the bit to get involved! Thanks to Damien, Amanda and the rest of the crew at S3M for this revelutionary new show!
