“Demons” Finds Its Priest

February 9, 2007 By Sam Sloan 5 Comments

ron-eldard.jpgRon Eldard (Deep Impact) will play the lead in the CBS drama pilot “Demons.” He will play an ex-Jesuit priest/psychologist who performs exorcisms. Eldard started receiving critical acclaim and big screen attention after appearing as a semi-regular cast member on NBC’s long running Emmy winner “ER” several years ago. His most recent credits include the ABC drama “Blind Justice,” “Diggers”and the feature “Freedomland.” He has just completed shooting the theatrical thriller “Already Dead” with the great Christopher Plummer.

We have been following the development of “Demons” closely for several reasons. One, it comes from the same people who developed “Joan of Arcadia,” a smart show and one that didn’t get the break it deserved, and two, hey!….it’s about an ex-priest turned psychologist that does exorcisms as part of his day job. Next to zombies it doesn’t get much better than that. And, third — well, Ron’s now in it and he is an excellent actor.

If you listen to our show on Wednesday, we will have another bit of important casting news as it relates to this new CBS supernatural thriller.

And how right you are about Ron being in it! Not only have I gotten to know this gifted artist personally, but I have followed Ron Eldard’s career for fifteen years and he is nothing short of extraordinary. I’m THRILLED!!!

I also have to agree with you. The fact that Ron Eldard has been cast in the lead role is definitely an asset for Demons. I have been privileged to see Ron perform on the Broadway stage and he is incredible. I am looking forward with great anticipation to seeing him in this role as well as in Already Dead.

Thanks Sam, I’ll be hanging off the edge of my seat waiting for this one. Since Ron dissapeared off the small screen after Blind Justice (What an Ace show!) I’ve been hanging out to find out what he’ll do next. He’s great at these quirky roles so it should be right up his alley. Having just proved that he can well hold the dramtic lead in a series I’m confident we’ll not be dissapointed.

Thanks for the info Sam! I am looking forward to seeing him in this role as well. He has played such a wide range of characters over the years and does each one equally well. He was amazing in Blind Justice and on Broadway and I have no doubt he will bring the same level of performance and dedication to his role in Demons.

Ron Eldard is an exceptional actor. He is so underrated. I hope this show will show give him the credit he deserves.
