LOS ANGELES, California (AP) — Nicole Kidman was taken to a hospital after the Jaguar she was driving crashed early Thursday during downtown shooting of the science fiction thriller “The Invasion,” police said.

Kidman, 39, was examined at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center then released two hours later, her publicist Catherine Olim said.

“I think she’s OK,” Olim said, adding it was unclear if the actress went home or returned to the set to resume shooting of the Warner Bros. movie. Later, Warner Bros. told CNN her hospital visit was a “walk-in and walk-out visit.”

The Jaguar was being towed by a camera rig that skidded while taking a corner at about 45 mph, causing Kidman’s car to hit a pole on West Sixth Street, Olim said.

Initial reports indicated the actress was in the car with a young boy, but there was no child star in the vehicle at the time of the accident, according to Warner Bros.

“The stunt driver apparently went off course and hit a light post at about 1 a.m.,” police Officer Karen Smith said.

In all, eight people, including Kidman, stuntmen and cameramen, were taken to hospitals for examination and were released, Smith said.

The Oscar-winning actress, who stars as a Washington psychiatrist who unearths the origin of an alien epidemic, was trying to escape zombie-like characters on the hood of the Jaguar when the crash occurred, Olim said.

Paramedics were called to examine Kidman for injuries before she was taken to the hospital, police said.

The film is based on the Jack Finney story classic “The Body Snatchers,” which has spawned three film versions, including the 1956 “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.”

Warner Bros. spokeswoman Jan Craft’s office said a statement would be released later.
