I am not you average Dragonlance fan.
I am a Dragonlance NUT.
I discovered the Chronicles in the late 80’s and waited with eager impatiance for each of the Legends. I prefer all the prequals to the sequals but the original 6 books are my greatest passion. Since the 1st time I read them I have read them again and again, at least once or twice a year since, with many other books in between. I dont get bored of them and it is the only story that has been ever able to make me cry. (The Death of Sturm) It does it too me every time. I have the collectors edition versions. The Dragonlance Art is on my Screensaver and on every wall in my house. Larry Elmore is a God. With the notable inclusions of Jeff Easley and Keith Parkinson to name a few.
In regards to the Movie I always believed it could only be told in Animation. The power of the story could not be accuratly portrayed with current technology. After seeing LOTR and King Kong I now believe one man could pull it off. We all know who that is. Pending Peter Jacksons interest I am satisfied after reading the official Dragonlance-movie Blog that MY interests are being looked after in regards to respecting the original taste of the story.
It appears most of the production crew are gamers and long time fans of the series. The 1st point I believe to be the most relevant. As a gamer they will understand the Spells and Combat structures that were the framework for the series. It was originally intended as a series of game modules and the books were just an advertising medium that took on a life of its own. I honestly believe this animation is the 1st step to achieving my Ultimate goal in life. To see Dragonlance Chronicles & Legends as a full Feature films…
