Trek Fan Site Reaches Milestone

January 10, 2007 By S. K. Sloan 1 Comment

I know that it is hard to believe, but TrekZone.org (official Mirror for the New Voyages fan productions) is about to celebrate its 7th birthday, reaching a milestone that only a very special select few dedicated SF websites ever get to see: longevity.

On February 1st, the site will celebrate with an all new look and feel that will make fans both nostalgic for the past, and excited about the future of not only TrekZone, but of Trek fandom in general. Mark that day on your calendars, and be sure to tune into the site from 0900 AWDST (midnight GMT) for the fireworks!

After seven long and gruelling years, they’re going to try and dig up the old sites (on Geocities, Yahoo, even Brinkster!) that were once called “Starbase 211” and “Starbase 311”. This year the SciFi Night will be re-born, back on free-to-air television and with a bigger and bolder vision than ever before. All they can tell us at this point is that a dialogue will be opened up between SPN productions and CBS/Paramount this month (January) – after which time, hopefully good news will prevail and they can inform everyone of the outcome. These negotiations will affect their push for Trek back on FTA Oz TV and the fan-film/series productions.

Sounds like fun and a good trip down memory lane. But, don’t stay stuck in the past reminiscing for too long because TrekZone has some great new plans for the future as well.
