Fan Production Crew & Casting Call

January 4, 2007 By Sam Sloan 1 Comment

Star Trek: Lexington announces recruitment; acting & technical positions open

lexington-009.jpgStar Trek: Lexington, Alabama’s first Star Trek fan series, is looking to fill openings for both actors and technical crew in their premiere episode, “All in the Appearances”. The episode is projected to start filming in mid-March 2007 in the Anniston/Birmingham, Alabama (U.S.) area.

“This is a really exciting time for me and the Lexington series,” says Joseph Bonice, who is the series creator, as well as co-executive producer and the pilot episode director. “When I started this series 20 years ago as short stories and novellas, I didn’t think I’d ever have the chance to see it on the screen. Now that I have that chance, I’m going to take it!”

Bonice states that they are recruiting both actors and tech crew immediately. He plans on recruiting in and along the Anniston-Birmingham corridor [and from others who can make their own way from outside the area] for the needed talent and is hoping to begin filming in mid-March 2007 for a late summer release of the first part of their two-part pilot.

“I know Alabama has a lot of potential and it’s waiting to be used,” he says. “The people of Alabama are nice and accommodating. And the locations are beautiful. I feel that a series like this can get this state on the filmmaking map.”

Bonice says that there’s two years of pre-production already invested in the series and is optimistic about filming this year.

“We’ve got the script and the CGI sets completed,” said Bonice. “We’ve got most of everything we need but it’s going to take a community effort in order to finish pre-production and get to filming.”

A listing of the characters and the technical positions can be found on the series’ website. Those interested in becoming a part of the series’ production can contact Mr. Bonice for more information at his email address recruitment@starshiplexington.com.

Star Trek: Lexington will be available for free download on the Internet to everyone with an Internet connection, which follows guidelines set forth by Star Trek’s owner, CBS/Paramount.

The Lexington storyline is set immediately after the events of “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home” on the Constitution-class starship USS Lexington with a totally new crew.

Above photo shows it all starts with an idea and a willingness to see the vision to its completion
