Shatner DVD Club Closes Doors

January 3, 2007 By S. K. Sloan 2 Comments

Just in case you have been wondering why you haven’t seen any adds on our site for the the William Shatner DVD Club, we thought we’d let you know that the Club has curtailed operations.

Bill started hearing from the various film distribution companies he was dealing with to provide top-notch, hard-to-find genre films for his DVD Club members, that they would no longer be able to provide the kind of entertainment members have become use to at such low prices. After thinking hard about it Bill decided to drop the DVD Club instead of forcing members to have to pay the higher prices.

Here is a copy of the official press release from Karina Margit, the Club’s Director of Marketing:

Dear Shatner DVD Club Member,

I am writing to inform you that as of January 1, 2007, William Shatner will no longer be offering his Sci-Fi DVD Club service. Bill has had a great time curating the Shatner Sci-Fi DVD Club, but his partners cannot continue to provide these movies at the current low prices.

It is important to us that we live up to the promise we made to our customers. We are sending you all of your remaining Sci-Fi movies in a single package and we hope that you enjoy them. Thank you for trying out the Shatner DVD Club. Please note that our customer service phone will no longer be in service as of January 1, 2007. Should you have any questions, please email us at customerservice at fullturnmedia.com, and we will get back to you promptly.

Well, it was certainly fun while it lasted.

I am very disappointed about this. I have been a subscriber from the beginning and looked forward to the movies. Most of the movies were very watchable, some were surprisingly good.

Was the number of subscribers ever published?
