Movie Talk: We reported a few weeks ago on our website that Robert Downey Jr has been cast by director Jon Favreau to play the dual role of Tony Stark/Iron Man in the upcoming big screen feature about the famous comic book character. Now, in addition to Downey, actor Terrence Howard, star of “Hustle and Flow” and hit movie “Idlewild” has been joined to star as Stark’s friend and confidante Jim “Rhodey” Rhodes.
Rhodes is a pilot and high ranking military officer. It is he and his team that develop the robotic suit that allows the ailing Stark to fly around and do harm to evil doers. Rhodes also is a sort of superhero, known as “War Machine” and has his own cool armored suit to wear.

SciFi Channel’s “Battlestar Galactica” had been rumored to be acquired and added to NBC’s primetime lineup, but NBC execs are more than happy to leave the show on SciFi Channel, where’s it’s been the top-rated Friday night show for three years running.
Interview: Ernst Dabel and Sean Jordan from Dabel Brothers Productions join Michael and Summer to talk about their newest ventures working with Marvel Comics, and some of the new novels currently in production as graphic novel adaptations.
Future Talk: What’s Coming Up?
David Eick, the executive producer behind “Battlestar Galactica” will be joined by screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis to do for “The Bionic Woman” what he and Moore did for Battlestar Galactica, and bring the 70s staple series into a more modern mindset.
The idea is to set the series against a backdrop of contemporary themes and scenarios that would include everything from global warming, dictorial oppression and international terrorism, while at the same time facing the issues that confront the modern professional woman of today. Look for the new show on NBC sometime in 2007.

There is no way that “Heroes” is going to unseat Battlestar Galactica. I mean, so far, it is really good. But the quality of writing (dialogue, character) is just not as good. I was really disappointed this week in the scenes with the cheerleader. They just didn’t convince me that she was passionate enough to do what she did, not to mention the reaction of the quarterback. What was that about? Anyway, it is good to see the quality and quantity of Sci Fi on TV. My Tivo is BUSY!
Gotta go along with Icepick on this one. Heroes is excellent, as is Jericho (probably the best SF offered up by any network for many many years) – but even at their best (so far), they still don’t measure up to the quality of acting or writing that BSG has done week-end and week-out for the last 3 seasons.
Although I agree that the writing/acting in BSG is better than Heroes, I think Heroes beats BSG in the “Wholly Sh**!!!” category.
Or “Holy Sh**!!!”, whichever you prefer.

[grin] “Wholly Sh**” and “Holy Sh**” are two rather different things, if you ask me. Heroes: “Holy Sh**!” SciFi Original Pictures on Saturday afternoon: “Wholly Sh**.”

All three are on my must watch list. Jerico’s last ep had the best oh sh**t moment for me so far. The federal broadcast and then nothing at all, thought it was a lame teaser until the very end. Talk about earth shattering ka-boom.
“Bionic Woman” was on ABC.
Is anyone suprised that General Electric/NBC passed on airing Battlestar? Not me.
I’m glad they’re not getting their mits on it. It would be a tragedy to see anything get the axe because “the network/corporation” doesn’t want it.
Me? My dream would be to see Battlestar produced by and aired on HBO. Or Showtime.
I only hope that GE/NBC doesn’t start screwing with Heroes. And that they don’t cancel Studio 60. I actually like that show and hope that they’ll give it a chance.
I love Studio 60 and think, to date, it is Matthew Perry’s best work – and I was a huge fan of his on Friends.
I too hope NBC doesn’t cancel it.
It seems the Marvel/Dabel Brothers deal is over, and Marvel now has all the properties.
