The Reality TV That Is Stan Lee

July 27, 2006 By Sam Sloan 7 Comments

“Who Wants to Be a Superhero?,” the reality TV series premieres tonight on The Sci Fi Channel at 9/8c.

stanlee.jpgEleven superhero wannabes have created their own superhero costumes and alter-superegos in a competition to be judged by Stan Lee, the master creator of favs like Spiderman and The Hulk.

The motley group of hopefuls have taken on identities such as The Creature, the Iron Enforcer, and Fat Momma. Their desire is to be Lee’s choice after going through a whole array of tests that will challenge their level of courage, strength, and integrity to see if they have the stuff that makes a superhero.

The winner of the contest will be crowned as the newest Dark Horse Comic Book hero with the story being penned by Lee.

Yeah this has to be one of the worst ideas I have seen, oh wait so is all those other shows on regular TV these days…hehe

If they’s get rid of the Wrestling I might watch this, then again maybe not…

    Well, I just watched this…. and …

    (drumroll)

    IT WAS FRACKING AWESOME!

No no.. Im serious. I loved it. I was laughing my butt off.

The only downside is that its kind of brutal, in that you’re not getting kicked off because you failed a contest, but actually because you’re a morally bankrupt and worthless person. OUCH!

Sooner or later though, even the densest of the contestants is going to catch on, so this might lose its appeal after a few episodes, but Im looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Watched it! Liked it! Will watch again! Of course, if Stan wasn’t there as an ever invading God-like presence then the show would be worse than a train wreck.

Yeah, I watched it. I think “FRACKING AWESOME” is a bit of a stretch, but I agree, it wasn’t bad. Yes, it was corny, but what should you expect?

I’ve never really gotten into a reality show before, but I think I’ll have to watch this one. So far, I’m rooting for Major Victory. He really seems to be getting in to the spirit of it. Me, I’d have to be drunk to get on national TV wearing a costume.

    Ohh man….

    But it WAS fraking awesome!

I had such low expectations. So maybe that was it.

I agree though, Major Victory is the best. He had me rolling. His whole over the top approach had me hooked. And when he picked up that girl to carry her to the guard station, and his crack was showing! LOL! You cant plan comedy like that! Hysterical!

And Monkey Girl, climbing the tree to change? She did NOT just climb that tree! I lost it. That was awesome (doesnt hurt that she’s hot).

This honestly the funniest thing I’ve seen on TV in years. That, combined with the obvious and stated message they are pushing here, makes me really like what I’ve seen so far.

If you missed it, download it, and watch next week 🙂
