Tonight’s Sky: February 2019 Video Guide

February 1, 2019 By Summer Brooks 2 Comments

In February, the Winter Triangle is your guide to the night sky: The northern hemisphere is treated to views of the stars Procyon, Sirius, and Betelgeuse. Keep watching for the awe-inspiring space-based views of the Orion Nebula, which is sculpted by the stellar winds of central bright stars.

I enjoy these videos, but I wish they had kept the narrator. They now feel like something is missing.

I miss the narrator, too, and also the details about the planets and other events, like the eclipse… so far we’re only getting info on the constellations.

I wonder how much these videos were affected by the government shutdown. Are the folks making the videos and the narrator contractors? Is their ability to make these affected by the possibility of the shutdown starting up again in a little over a week, and maybe that’s why they’re so trimmed down?

The January video was over a week late, along with them being moved to a new YouTube channel, and I almost missed it.
