Is the New Doctor Already Cast?

Is the New Doctor Already Cast?

June 4, 2013 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

It’s only been three days since the BBC confirmed that actor Matt Smith is leaving Doctor Who at year’s end.

But it only took three seconds after the news broke for the rumor mill to begin churning out potential replacements for Smith in the iconic role.

In the press release, producer Steven Moffat said that the search has begun for the new Doctor.  But is it already over?

Bleeding Cool and several other on-line sources speculate that the role has already been cast and that it’s been cast since January.

No word yet on who will take over the mantle of the Doctor, but we’ve heard some interesting rumors.   Those include the one that springs up every time the role is open that the Doctor could be female for the upcoming regeneration.

Among the more absurd rumors we’ve heard is that Billie Piper could take over as the Doctor. (We’re hoping it doesn’t happen!)

There are odds on who the next Doctor could be but nothing is confirmed yet.

We already know the name of the next doctor it’s John Hurt. Everybody is looking past the obvious answer because the Grand Moff has faked us out so many times, were waiting for him to pull the rug out.

While that is possible considering they were in a place where the Doctor’s past, present, and future, was. I don’t believe it’ll be John Hurt due to his age. Not that I’ve got anything wrong with that, I think John Hurt would make a brillient next Doctor, but if you haven’t noticed, the Doctor is getting younger not older.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks The Doctor is aging in reverse.

I don’t know where that aging in reverse thing came from because it’s simply not true. Colin Baker was older than Peter Davison and so was Sylvester McCoy.

So with this aging in reverse thingy…does that make the Doctor a citizen of the planet of Ork? Is that where Gallifrey is really located? And, even worse, does that mean Mork is a timelord? Questions, questions, questions!
