Most of us don’t expect World War Z to be anything like the brilliant best-seller by Max Brooks.
Even Brooks doesn’t expect the movie to resemble the novel. Speaking to Huffington Post, Brooks say he expects the film will have the same title “and that’s it.”
Brooks say he’s not angry about it nor is he surprised that Hollywood has done this to his book.
“I knew they were going to rewrite it,” Brooks says. “I grew up in Hollywood. I knew it was going to go through a million changes.”
Brooks says fans of the novel should treat the movie like a separate entity and that he doubts they will have much in common with each other.
“I cannot guarantee that the movie will be the book that they love,” Brooks says. “And I’m in no position to tell people to see this movie or not see it. If I’m asked I say: See the movie as a movie and judge it as a movie.”
So, does this diminish your hopes for the movie even more? Are you still planning to see it in theaters or will you wait for home release?

These days if it isn’t a Star Trek film I wait for it to come out on Blu-ray or watch it on premium channel or premium online.

As far as I’m concerned, they would have needed to change the plot quite a bit to fit it into a film. But when they went to fast zombies, I knew it was just going to be a crappy action film. Why? Because slow zombies allows people to show emotion, while fast zombies don’t give you a chance, so when creators decide to use fast zombies instead of slow zombies, it means they aren’t willing to put in the effort needed for character depth.
There’s also the whole Max Brooks lore on zombies which they’ve completely ignored.
