Fans of actors Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen may want to head for New York. The X-Men stars will be on Broadway.
Stewart and McKellen are scheduled to play opposite each other in two productions in the next year. McKellen is quoted as saying “We hope, at least once a week, to give Broadway audiences the chance of seeing Beckett and Pinter on adjacent nights, perhaps even on the same day.”
In Waiting for Godot, the pair will reprise their roles from the 2009 London West End production. Samuel Beckett’s classic absurdist play will be well served under the direction of Sean Mathias with McKellen as Estragon and Stewart in the roll of Vladimir,
If that is not enough, the theatrical juggernauts are also taking on Harold Pinter’s No Man’s Land, a intriguing tale of two aged poets in a strange conversation Hirst (Stewart) and Spooner (McKellen).
The venue and dates are still to be announced, as well as the names of who will round out the casts. More details to come as we hear them.
