Odds are even if you don’t recognize the name Drew Struzan, you’ll recognize some of his work. Struzan created the iconic posters for Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future and a myriad of other movies.
And after 35 years of creating artwork for films, he thought he was ready to retire.
However, if Disney has its way, Struzan won’t be retiring any time soon.
Struzan tells Geek Tyrant that Disney is pursuing him to postpone his retirement so he can work on posters for the upcoming Star Wars trilogy and selected other projects for the studio.
But is he tempted by the offer? “I spent 35 years painting Star Wars,” he says and then adds there is a “chance” he could consider coming out of retirement to work on the new trilogy’s artwork.
“There’s no intention. But I would love to have a day off every now and again, and I have to work a weekend and all through the night. If the opportunity arises, it will be a real temptation. But it’s going to have to be a real temptation to get me away from my wife and my little grandkids and my family,” he says.
