Star Trek co-writer Robert Orci is teasing Trek fans with details on the highly anticipated sequel.
Orci tells TrekMovie that writing the sequel is even more high pressure and high stakes than the original reboot due to the fan expectations. He also says that we will see the Klingons this time and they’ll feature the forehead ridges glimpsed in the original movie’s deleted scenes.
And now that we know Benedict Cumberbatch isn’t playing Khan, speculation is running wild on just which adversary he will be. Orci does confirm that the Batch won’t play the rebooted version of Harcourt Fenton Mudd, originally played by Robert C. Carmel in two memorable classic Trek episodes.
He also won’t comment on if Leonard Nimoy will appear, though Nimoy has repeatedly denied rumors he’ll be back. Orci says eagle-eyed fans can find hints for the sequel in the on-going comic series from IDW and that one of the big issues facing the creative team in the title of the sequel.
He hopes we’ll see a trailer soon that will give us a better idea of what’s coming our way when the movie finally hits theaters next year.
