Parsons Comes Out

Parsons Comes Out

May 24, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 9 Comments

Actor Jim Parsons has officially come out of the closet.

Best known as Sheldon Cooper on TV’s The Big Bang Theory, Parsons made the announcement this week while discussing his recent work on Broadway.  Parsons plays  a gay activist in The Normal Heart.

Speaking to the New York Times, the play’s author  Patrick Healy  said, “The Normal Heart resonated with him on a few levels: Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship, and working with an ensemble again onstage was like nourishment.”

Has to be the worst kept secret since Clay Aiken came out.

Nothing to see hear, move along, move along….

Agree with Rapid Eye. I was about as surprised by Jim’s announcement as I was when Clay Aiken “came out.” And, who cares?

Agree with Rapid Eye. I was about as surprised by Jim’s announcement as I was when Clay Aiken “came out.” And, who cares? No need to make it part of the show though. Keep the faux relationship with Amy going.

So that’s why he won’t sleep with Amy Farah Fowler!

    Now, everything is explained.

When did this get to be news? I thought his homosexuality was old news. I’ve known about it since last year. Maybe I’m just ahead of the curve.

    To paraphrase Bruce:

“When did this get to be news? I thought homosexuality was old news.”

Why do we keep talking about this? Now if you had an INTERVIEW with him on Slice, THAT would be news! I love his character (reminds of real people I know!) and I would be interested in the inspiration for it.

Perhaps it is like when Whedon was asked in an interview years ago why he writes strong female characters. He simply responded “Because you’re still asking me that question.”

I look forward to a time when knowing someone’s sexual orientation is like knowing their eye colour. My response is usually, “Yes… what’s your point?”

Every year, I inquire several times about getting BBT cast on for interviews, and every year I’m left hanging by CBS’s PR people. But I do and will continue to ask about getting them on!

On the topic, as most said above Who didn’t know and Who Cares!

Summer. Good luck on getting BBT folks. Any one of them would be great!
