While many in the TV numbers games are assuming Fringe is toast at season’s end, the show has proven Chuck-like in its ability to not slip off the bubble.
And now to give fans a bit more hope, producer Jeff Pinker says that there have been conversations about a fifth season for the show and what it would look like.
“There are conversations with both the studio and the network [about possibly going to a season 5],” Pinkner tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It is certainly our hope that we have a season 5 and beyond and creatively we know what season 5 would be.”
Pinker and fellow producer Joel Wyman are moving forward with a potential season five until they hear otherwise from Fox.
“Definitely we feel very confident that we know where we would go, should we be lucky enough,” Wyman tells THR.
Part of the reason Fox could be considering a renewal is that at the end of season four, there would be 88 episodes produced. If the show come back for a shortened season, that could bump it up to the more lucrative 100 episodes.
“I think for all shows that is. I mean 88 is good, but 100 is better,” Wyman says. “To Jeff and I, we don’t really think about those things. That’s for someone else to think about. We just do our show and write our episodes and love our show.”
He continued: “We would never want to continue unless we felt that we had something incredibly creative to say and to do. We do and if the powers that be deem it a plausible solution to go forward, then we’re thrilled.”

It’s a shame that it’s rating have gone south…the show is always fresh as it is constantly reinventing itself through the alternate reality and different timelines…a rare gem in the industry…hope it continues.
