The House of Mouse is looking to make you wait longer to rent its DVDs and Blu-Rays.
After not following several other studios that make consumers wait 28 days to rent films from rental services like Redbox and Blockbuster, Disney is now considering imposing such a window.
CEO Bob Iger says the studio is “in discussions” about the chance in policy.
Up to now Disney didn’t think that a delay would have much impact on disc sales, but he says that “the industry has continued to suffer on the sell-through side.”
Iger also expressed frustration that Disney’s streaming content service for its movies hasn’t taken off as much as he’d expected.

Does anyone have any numbers on whether this worked for Warner Brothers or not? I know it wouldn’t force me to buy instead of waiting but I am fairly unique I think.
I never go to the theater so unless it’s a franchise we already like (Harry Potter, Resident Evil, Kung Panda, Star Trek, etc) I don’t buy until I see them. And I don’t see them until I rent them.
If I really want to see them before they are available for rental I can PPV them on DirecTV. I don’t do it often but the option is there and it’s still way less than buying a movie I haven’t seen.
