If you were looking forward to re-reading the Harry Potter novels on your e-reader, looks like you’re going to have to wait a bit longer.
The Pottermore store was set to open later this month and offer digital editions of the print and audio versions of the best-selling series. However, that plan has been put on hold until early next year, according to a note on the site.
According to the Pottermore website, “the Pottermore Shop, which will sell the Harry Potter eBooks and digital audio books, will now open in the first half of 2012, in order to allow us to focus on our first priority: opening Pottermore to as many people as possible and making the experience as good as it can be.”
However, there is some good news for fans. The site will open up to user registration this month.

They seriously need to work on their server issues. I was one of those who signed up early, and got in … If I’m *really* lucky, I can “play” for about 10 minutes in a two hour period. The rest of the time, I get “server load” error messages. It’s an ongoing thing, and now that they have the full million early users on there, it’s only gotten worse. I don’t even want to think about how bad it’s going to get when it’s open to everyone.
The folks running the website need to rethink this thing from the ground up.
