Last week, we told you that George Lucas was going back and replacing the puppet Yoda with a digital Yoda for The Phantom Menace.
That was one of several tweaks Lucas promised fans on the upcoming Blu-Ray release for Star Wars. More news of the tweaks has come out and it appears that Lucas is attempting to close some plot holes raised between one trilogy and the next.
Among those is inserting two new lines of dialogue into the waning moments of Return of the Jedi.
In the climactic scene, Vader stands impotent to the Emperor’s crackling lightning storm assault of his son Luke, The internal conflict seethes within him until, in a SILENT moment of brute strength and paternal love, he hoists Emperor Palpatine over his head and chucks him into the abyss. In the new version, Vader will shout “No!” twice.
Lucas is also altering Ben Kenobi’s Krayt dragon call in A New Hope.
Of course, these edits won’t stop fans from buying the discs. But at least we’ll have something to complain about….

Hell I stopped even thinking about wanting any of this crap anymore… I have my nice laser disk editions. I’m good. 🙂

They’re a rumor that is not verified from Lucasfilm at this point. The videos appear on a YouTube channel that also houses custom Star Wars videos.
I recommend “The Star Wars Blu-ray ‘Alteration’ Controversy” at http://www.bigshinyrobot.com/reviews/archives/32052 . Bryan Young has a long history of debunking this kind of thing by asking his contacts at LFL to address them.
Right now, it’s a rumor that the internet has turned into fact and controversy.

*sigh* Never mind.

C’mon on! How much is this guy going to change. Didnt he already change the dragon sound affect. Ol’ Fat Neck is slowly taking away all of the charm of the originals and turning them into boring and antiseptic movies like the prequelss! Arrrgh!

Leave Star Wars alone!

The Yoda thing I have no problem with. The puppet in PM was terrible.
