Actress and former model Yvette Vickers has passed away.
Best known for her work in Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, Vickers had a long list of B-movies to her credit during the 50’s and 60’s . She appeared in more than 40 different films and television programs, the last one in 1990.
Her body was found at her home Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Times. She was 82.
The body’s mummified state suggests that she could have been dead for close to a year, police said.
Residents on the street said they had not seen Vickers since last summer, said actress Susan Savage, a neighbor who discovered the body.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, but police say foul play is not suspected.
When Savage noticed that Vickers’ mailbox was filled with old letters, she pushed open a barricaded gate to reach the house and found the body in a room with a space heater still on.
“She kept to herself, had friends and seemed like a very independent spirit,” Savage said. “To the end, she still got cards and letters from all over the world requesting photos.”
Vickers had a career in modeling and appeared as a Playmate in Playboy Magazine.

How sad that no one missed her for that long.
I didn’t remember her name but knew her face instantly from all her old movies.
RIP

I have to agree that this was depressing to read.Very sad to be left for so long and no one really noticed or inquired. It seems not to make sense that it took that long for a mail box to fill up and be noticed and a heater running makes you wonder who paid the bills to keep the utilities on.
.
Hope it was quick and she did not suffer, May she be long remembered as the 50 FOOT WOMAN!!!
