In the wake of a second security breach, Sony has decided to suspend all on-line gaming until further notice.
The company announced the move yesterday on their blog.
“Dear valued SOE customers, we have had to take the SOE service down temporarily,” the Japanese-based company explained in an official statement.
“In the course of our investigation into the intrusion into our systems we have discovered an issue that warrants enough concern for us to take the service down effective immediately. We will provide an update later today (Monday). We apologize for any inconvenience and greatly appreciate your patience.”
Sony Online Entertainment is home to a number of multi-player games, including EverQuest, DC Universe and The Matrix.
The company refused to comment on whether or not stories that 12,700 customers was likely compromised during the second attack were true or not.
No word yet on when the system will be back on-line.
