If professional reviewers want to see “G.I. Joe,” looks like they’ll have to buy a ticket like the rest of it.
Paramount Pictures announced yesterday that they will not offer any previews of the upcoming film for media and critics. The announcement comes after weeks of reported evasions by Paramount on a firm date for a critical screening.
Generally when movies aren’t given a critical screening, it’s because a studio doesn’t want the film hammered with negative reviews by critics. But that didn’t stop Paramount from screening this summer’s “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” which was a favorite for bashing by critics. The critical panning did little to harm the box-office bottom line for “Fallen” which has racked up more than $300 million in ticket sales since it opened.
Paramount has screened the film for fan sites such as Ain’t It Cool News where it has met with enthusiastic response.

I so wanted to want to see this film… Good actors and all, but I DID get to see the trailer, and that pretty much killed it for me.

Hmmm. . . very bad sign
but, the black vinyl might just be worth it. It worked for Kate Beckinsale in Underworld.

When people need to make a few bucks from movie reviewers then the movie must be real bad!

Saw the movie today. It wasn’t the best movie I’d ever seen, but it wasn’t boring either. It was, however, quite predictable. All and all, my family and I enjoyed it.
The attention to detail in this movie bothered me a little tho. In the beginning of the movie, the main character is addressed as Captain. However, in the flashback sequence where he proposes to his girlfriend (4 years earlier), I could have sworn I saw him wearing a the insignia of a major. A very annoying oversight for such a big budget movie. I’ll hold out the hope that my eyes got it wrong and his rank insignia during the flashback were those of a 1st lt.
Dennis Quaid wasn’t right for the role.
Oh yeah… beards are not in line with army uniform regs. An officer in dress uniform at a formal function (that’s what the whole dinner-dance thing was) would not be sporting a beard.
