Fuller Pushing for “Daisies” Movie

January 15, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

While there’s no word yet on when the last three episodes of “Pushing Daisies” will air on ABC, fans can take hope that if creator Bryan Fuller has his way, that won’t be the last of the story. According to TV Guide On-Line, Fuller is currently working on getting a direct-to-DVD movie for the series off the ground. The movie would wrap-up the on-going storylines and arcs that couldn’t be resolved when ABC gave the show its pink slip last month.

Actress Kristin Chenoweth says the movie will “wrap up a lot of the unanswered questions that people will have once they finally air our final episodes.”

And while she knows fans of the show are eager to see the final three episodes, she said Fuller isn’t pushing ABC to air them.

“It’s way too good to push on somebody,” she said. “You either air it and let the world see it or — you know, that show, I’m sorry if it sounds arrogant, but it’s the best thing ever.”

If the movie goes ahead, Chenoweth says she’s in — and she believes her “Daisies” castmates would be as well.

“I’m sure that Bryan Fuller wouldn’t do it without the six main characters,” she said. “Paul Reubens was a big part of it — we have certain guest stars that are standouts that we’d want back. But he has such a great idea for it. … We all want to.”

Fuller has also said that he would like to see a comic-book series the follows after the end of the series.  No word yet on if or how the potential movie could impact the comics, which were also reported to be a way to wrap-up the series.

This news makes me very happy. And also very sad, because I really want ABC to air the final three episodes soon. The longer they wait, the more likely they are to just not air them at all. 🙁
