“Gnomes and Trolls: The Secret Chamber” is a new animated children’s film from Sweden that has captured the imagination of kids all over Eastern Europe. After its showing over the weekend at the Norwegian Film Festival, the movie got pickup in theaters across 69 different countries and regions including Asia, the Middle East, Spain, as well as Latin and South America on the West side of the Atlantic.
However, American, British, Italian, French and German theaters haven’t responded in kind, delaying any decision whether or not to give it a try for their audiences.
“It’s sold to many Euro countries, to Latin and South America, the whole Middle East and Asian countries including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Iran,” said NonStop’s Judith Toth.
The animated flick is an action-adventure fairy tale, marked by splashes of the slap-stick comedy throughout. It follows the title character named Junior, a teenage gnome, wants nothing more than to invent gizmos and gadgets in his tree-house laboratory. But Junior’s old school father, Jalle, the head gnome of the forest, would prefer his son follow in his footsteps and one day be in charge of his own forest. In spite of their differences, on the eve of the first winter storm Junior helps Jalle distribute food rations to the soon-to-be-hibernating animals. Then disaster strikes. Perpetually bickering troll brothers Face and Slim execute their evil father Fassa’s carefully plotted plan to steal the food from the gnome secret food chamber. After Jalle is accidentally injured, Junior and his best friend Sneaky, a paranoid neurotic crow, embark on a heroic journey to the depths of troll cave to retrieve the stolen food.
Junior and Sneaky’s adventure takes them across vast landscapes and into epic encounters with bizarre animals. Along the way, Junior learns that it is possible to merge his passion for inventing with his newfound impetus to defend the forest. As Sneaky taps into an innate bravery he never knew he had, Slim battles an identity crisis, and Junior’s mother Svea shatters the preconceived notions of what it means to be a gnome wife.
A sequel titled, “Gnomes and Trolls: The Forest Trial,” is already being produced and has presold to 64 countries.

Nice theme, and as I understood it a couple of countries repr. were quick to follow Spain, Portugal, Germany Norway,Swed,Den to mention a couple, great movie by the way
A question to Sam Sloan, are your really sure that Spain signed after Haugesund?? Because the company behind G&T are listed on swedish stock market and have not published such information yet??
Question, in your article youre mentioning Spain…Are your sure Spain are included? Spain are a Prime market as well very important for the company behind GNOMED and Trolles WHITESHARKFILM, and they have`nt said anything consuring new deals with new countries, important because they are listed on the swedish stock market,
To the best of my knowledge, NonStop’s executive sales director for Spain, Judith Toth, has the film lined up for release in that country.
I watched the trailer, it seems to be missing something…it like its just not quite there. Maybe bad theme music or slightly inorganic movement…note sure.
The “trailer” on the website is very old, I wouldnt call it a teaser even. I have no idea why they keep it there.
Jeremy, the oldier version (trailer on their webpage) are now modified and with greater quality, will be shown at Santa Monica and Cannes in oktober…
Sam Sloan, Gnomes and Trolls are NOT signed to Spain an NOT confirmed by Judith Toth on NonStop Sales.
As mentioned, White Shark are listed on the swedish stock market and I must say that it is irresponsible to write such sensible market moving news on no grounds what so ever.
Doubtful journalism, to say the least. A disclamation please.
The only thing left in the negotiations with Spain (as well as several other countries) is a release date….but, it is coming to Spain just as we indicated in the article.
Hi Sam Sloan!
I wonder at what date you just heard the last thing you wrote “The only thing left in the negotiations with Spain (as well as several other countries) is a release date….but, it is coming to Spain just as we indicated in the article.”
