With the mid-season finale of Battlestar Galactica coming sooner rather than later and a presumed long hiatus before the final ten episodes of the series run on SciFi, fans may be wondering how they’ll deal with Galactica-withdrawal this year.Â
According to the Chicago Tribune’s Maureen Ryan, a series of webisodes are on tap to air on-line between the first and second half of season four. Ryan reports the webisodes will link the first and second half of the season.
Ryan also reports that there’s a potential for one to three more Galactica movies, similiar to this season’s “Razor.”
While nothing has been confirmed from the network, Ryan said undisclosed sources close to the production team have said there is interest in producing up to three standalone Galactica movies.  Ryan went on to say that the characters featured in the film would depend on the availability of the actors involved and that if they were to happen, they’d film in July. Galactica finishes filming its fourth season in mid-June and it’d be easier to bring back the cast and crew for movies while they were still “all together.”Â
The movies would not be set after the series finale, but would take place to fill in gaps during the run of the show, similar to “Razor” or several Babylon Five movies that were produced for TNT.Â
Sources close to the production are “cautiously optimistic” the films will happen though SciFi has yet to sign off on the films.Â
Galactica concludes the first half of season four in mid-June. Ryan reports that SciFi will decide this summer when the final ten episodes of season four will air, though she speculates that it could be early 2009 before the season and series finishes its run.

Am I the only person who thinks BSG has turned into a rushed, nonsensical MESS since the end of S3?
Like all good disasters, I can’t stop watching and every week just scratch my head and long for the quality and edge-of-your-seat plot lines the first two seasons had.
Are people still really putting this show on the pedestal it once deserved?

I don’t agree Michael. Each week, as this fourth and final season draws to an end, I, like millions of other fans, sit mesmorized in front of my television set with jaw dropped open in amazement of how intense, unexpected and exciting the episodes are becoming. Moore, et. al., continue to raise the bar and are raising fan emotions to a fever pitch that looks like it will explode into some kind of SF orgasmic frenzy by the time the last enlightened episode is aired.

I guess it must be just me, and regardless of my problems with the show, I keep watching so what do I know?
I guess I keep waiting for that ‘frenzy’ you’re talking about, or even a hint that they’re building towards it but I just can’t see it. Too many dangling plot threads that seem impossible for them to tie together (maybe I’m just dim and can’t see where they’re going).
One of the things I liked about S1 and 2 of BSG was that it was hard to nitpick about stuff. Like Friday’s episode with the resurrection hub being part of the deal the skinjobs are cutting with the colonials.
Do you really believe that THE most technologically advanced life form in existence would have a single point of failure for what is the lynch pin of their entire civilization?
Sam, here’s to hoping you’re right. I hope they blow me away on the last episode and I slap my forehead and laugh and laugh and laugh at how silly I’ve been.
But by then, Whedon’s Dollhouse will be out and I probably won’t care 🙂

I agree with Sam. Every week I am glued to the TV. This past weeks episode was amazing, and I can’t wait til the next one airs. I think the reason it seems to be going in so many directions is intentional. It is a frenzy leading to the huge climax.

The season has rocked for me. And there has been some small payoffs like what Starbuck was painting. I think they are pushing the story forward and really building up the stakes. About the cylons losing the res ship. It may or may not happen. I’m still wonder if there are cylons left back on their home planet or the colonies. Hard to believe they wouldn’t leave some behind.
I can feel my teeth start to grind at the thought of the season break.

I loved the first 2 seasons and also the end of season 3, but I really think that this season has been drab. I couldn’t imagine that BSG could be so slow moving.
They should really just kill off Gaius Ballbag as that character is just wasting screentime, while doing absolutely nothing interesting whatsoever.

Scifi channel pisses me off. Get us hooked and hang us out to dry for a whole year between last season and this season and then, to top it off, they’re going to do it again halfway through this season. What a bunch of turds. Maybe the guys over a Cordrazine could make some filler wepisodes, seems like they have a good grasp of the plot: http://cordrazine.wordpress.com/2008/05/20/bsg-faith
