Save “The 4400”

January 20, 2008 By Sam Sloan 13 Comments

season4_cast.jpgThere is another campaign underfoot to save a show loved by fans. It’s the “Save The 4400” project that was started by many of the fans of the show that hang out at the USA Network’s official forums website.

“The 4400” was a very popular sci-fi story that began 4 seasons ago and followed the lives of 4400 humans that had been abducted by an unknown force for mysterious reasons. These abductees came from three different generations beginning as early as the 1930’s with a young girl named Maia, who become pivotal in a government agency’s effort to inhibit these special people that returned to Earth all at the same time exhibiting special powers, some to do good, others for evil.

Many fans noticed a definite drop off of originality in the last season but held out hope that the show would once again recapture that inspiration from its first two seasons. Those hopes were crushed with the USA Network announcement that the show would be canceled.

If you would like to participate is this effort then visit Save The 4400.net.

Classic case of a show which should have had a shorter, fixed-length storyline. This show really should have been written to last 2 or at most 3 seasons max.
Any good TV show should have a beginning, a middle and an end.

I really enjoyed the first 2 season of this, but I would much rather the effort be put into saving a top class show like journeyman.

I do believe this effort is worth it. Many not think so but being a die-hard fan of “The 4400” I always held out a hope for at least 5 seasons. Season 4, in my opinion, did not lack originality. If anything it spoke on environmental issues which people normally fail to ignore. This show was getting close to something and I think we as fans deserve to know a life that became that of Promise City.

4400fan I agree with you whole heartedly! I do not think that season four lacked in anything except summastion!!!!! I have watched ALL of the seasons and IMO season four is one of the best!!! I want to know which fans this reporter got that information from or if it is just HIS/HER opinion!! Season 4 did point out some pretty
important enviromental issues and the show had evolved in to a mission to better the world! Now we fans are on a mission to save an amazing show that has meant a lot to each and every one of us! I will put all of my effort into saving this fantastic series!! WHATS JOURNEY MAN ANYWAYS???? It means absolutely nothing to me!

The show was originally intended to exist for at least 5 seasons, considering the writers planned to not reveal the identity of the abductors until the fifth season. But having been picked up only as a mini-series and THEN becoming a seasonal show, they had to change their plans. I say give the 4400 its originally-intended fifth season, and let it go out the way it’s supposed to.

its unfortunate that this series has to end. My boyfriend and I loved it, and are very disappointed that its over. I wonder if its possible for the story to be given some ending by creating a a movie as was done with the sci-fi series “firefly”. If that isn’t possible I would love a book, or even just one final episode. Oh well, life will go on, but it is still very disappointing from the fans perspective.

I have totally enjoyed this serious and had assumed it had not been aired due to the writers strike last season. I hope that these characters and writers can finish their story. I get really upset when I see other USA shows like Monk and the DeadZone do so well when the 4400 has basically been forgotten. I am not sure if there is anything anyone can do but for any of those out there who are apart of the show or production of it in general, I and my friends dearly miss it!!

I want the 4400 back…NO other show offers the skill that those writers have – they are brave and talented and offer a new form to the imagination with a solution that one couldn’t fathom….

It is so exciting, I really want this show back!!!

I love the 4400. When a new season came out, I would start from season 1 and watch all of them. (an episode a night) They could keep this show going for many years, and I’d love it. I was shocked when I heard it was canceled.

Man, I am so mad at ABC for finishing The 4400, one of the most exciting shows ever !

Hopefully there is still coming an end season to solve the mysteries because we, as fans, are entitled to know !

Didn’t watch it when it first came out but have bought all four season on DVD in the last six months. I was devastated when I learned it was cancelled. We only need one more season to answer all the questions remaining. Don’t know why USA can’t spring for that. It would be watched by alot of people. Even just a short summer season would be acceptable. I just want to know the end of the story. It’s torture to cancel a series with so much up in the air. USA lost alot of my respect by doing this.

I agree Donna. Just one small summer season to sum to all up would be extremely appreciated. I still miss that show. That DANG writers strike screwed up so many of my favorite shows and this one was no exception. I would love one last hurrah from the 4400!!!

PLEASE SOMEONE REVIVE IT FOR ONE LAST SEASON!!!!

I have only just got into them – a friend sent the dvds to me – she has just told me there is no final season – I am so tired of shows I like being stopped and trash full of sexist raunchy humour which does not always need much intellect to follow being kept on as its more commercialy viable.

I work in a third world country as a volunteer and need to esczape into some good story telling now and again I would, just for once, like to be able to trust the networks that if I start watching a show I enjoy they will not leave me disappointed by pulling it just as it gets interesting, Firefly was another, Hope Island – Go on you have done it before – can’t someone finish the story – please!! believe me theres enough disapointment in the world already!!
