Are we alone in the universe? The question has always haunted humankind. Incidents involving UFOs and extraterrestrial life have been reported throughout history. “UFO HUNTERS”â„¢, a new series on The History Channel, follows a group of experts as they subject some of history’s most intriguing UFO accounts, and the evidence surrounding them, to exhaustive scrutiny in an effort to uncover the actual facts. The series is a spinoff from the network’s hit program “UFO HUNTERS†which premiered in 2005. The new HD series UFO HUNTERS premieres Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on The History Channel®.
UFO Hunters Bill Birnes, Pat Uskert, Dr. Ted Acworth, and Jeff Tomlinson are passionate about separating fact from fallacy when it comes to UFO incidents. Each brings a different background and perspective: Bill Birnes is publisher of UFO Magazine, home to one of the world’s largest collections of documentation on UFO incidents. Also from UFO Magazine is investigator Pat Uskert, who became intrigued with the UFO phenomenon after he witnessed a strange metallic object floating over Venice, California. Jeff Tomlinson is the scientific intern with the UFO HUNTERS team. They are joined by Dr. Ted Acworth of MIT, a mechanical engineer and researcher who previously worked for NASA, and brings the discipline of hard science to the team, assisting in the investigations of reported UFO incidents to determine if they are real.
Each week, this group travels to the site of a well-known UFO encounter to explore the event and uncover what really happened. In the course of their investigations, the UFO Hunters examine evidence such as videotapes, audiotapes, witness interviews, and files newly opened under the Freedom of Information Act, then go on location and to the lab to interview, re-construct the events, and investigate. Their journeys take them across North America and Europe in search of the truth about these UFO sightings.
The premiere episode of the new HD series UFO HUNTERS examines an incident that took place two weeks before the now-famous report of a UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico. UFO HUNTERS: THE UFO BEFORE ROSWELL travels back to June 21st, 1947, when Harold Dahl was boating with crew and dog off the coast of Maury Island, Washington, in Puget Sound. They noticed several odd-shaped aircraft dotting the sky. One suddenly began spewing white-hot fragments over the water and onto the beach. The fiery falling debris killed Dahl’s dog and broke his son’s arm. He told the harbor patrol, who in turn reported the incident to the military. A few weeks later, two Air Force intelligence officers from Hamilton Field, California arrived in Tacoma. After conducting interviews, and collecting most of the remaining wreckage, the officers departed McChord Field in the early hours of August 1st. Shortly afterward, the airplane lost communication, and people reported seeing flames in the sky. Two people died in the crash, two others made their way through the darkness to a farmhouse. UFO HUNTERS has located the crash scene and along with an archeologist, comb the debris field, gathering and analyzing the evidence. UFO HUNTERS: THE UFO BEFORE ROSWELL premieres Wed., Feb. 6th at 10:00pm ET/PT.
The following incidents reported by individuals are investigated in the series:
· June 1947 – A group of people out boating notice odd-shaped aircraft in the sky overhead – when fiery debris from the objects suddenly rains down on them. U.S. military sent in later to collect evidence are involved in a plane crash. Not long after the boating incident, an unusual aircraft accident is reported in Roswell, New Mexico, raising further questions.
· September 1961 – A couple driving on a rural New Hampshire road allege they were abducted, examined, and returned to their car by their captors. Under hypnosis they reveal details of their abduction and the woman draws a map of an unknown solar system. Years later, astronomers discover a solar system closely matching it.
· 1980 – A pilot flying his small plane spots an object just below the surface of the water off Catalina Island. He reports that a bright light emanating from the object enveloped his plane and froze his controls, after which he lost consciousness.
August 2007 – Two sleepy villages in eastern Mexico, Valles and Xilitla, report debris falling from the sky, and a 10-foot-diameter fireball was seen to fly back and forth through the sky as if being maneuvered, before crashing to the ground..
· Since the 1980s, over 7,000 sightings of strange objects in the sky have been reported in the Hudson Valley region of upstate New York, and the source of a powerful beam of light emanating from the center of a local cemetery has yet to be determined.
Other episodes of UFO HUNTERS will investigate reports of man-made aircraft and spacecraft encountering UFOs while flying, incidents of police encounters with UFOs, various stone formations around the world, such as Stonehenge, that many experts feel are powerful clues into the extraterrestrial world, and a look at the efforts of modern organizations like SETI and NASA, and what they are doing to investigate the presence of extraterrestrial life in the universe
The official minisite, www.history.com/ufohunters will include videos of reported UFO sightings as well as an ongoing web series. Viewers can share their own encounters on the UFO HUNTERS Sightings Map Experience, an interactive application utilizing Google Map technology, to pinpoint personal experiences around the globe. Viewers will be able to browse world-wide encounters as well as add their own stories, photos and videos for others to view and rate. Experts from the series will participate in online chats, and the site will serve as a forum for UFO discussions.
The new HD series UFO HUNTERS is produced by Motion Picture Production, Incorporated, for The History Channel. Executive Producer for The History Channel is Dolores Gavin. Executive producer is Jon Alon Walz. Co-executive producers are Alan LaGarde and Jeff Tober. Supervising producers are Dave Pavoni and Tracy Chaplin. Producers are Autumn Humphreys and Chad Horning.

Interesting…Pilgrim Films, the production company behind “Ghost Hunters” and “Ghost Hunters International”, is supposedly releasing a series of exactly the same name on SFC later this year…I wonder how that is going to work out…
Skiznot says
I wonder if it will be scientific or the kind of fluff the passes for journalism. “Is there other life in the universe?” is a very different question from “have we been visited by aliens?”. I haven’t seen any compelling evidence for visitations. It would be awsome if it were true but occams razor wins out in my mind until such a time as the evidence is overwhelming. The real sad thing is when presented to a good explanation, people don’t want to let go of their fantasy. I used to give some credence to crop circles until I saw the guys out in the feilds with the boards making patterns that “couldn’t be faked.” Now I start from the position that requires fewer asumptions.

Three different organizations have filed for trademark of the word “UFO Hunters”; MUFON, the History Channel (A&E) and Pilgrim Films. This should be interesting.

History Channel may be blowing smoke with “UFO Hunters” series name
It appears that the History Channel may be blowing smoke, claiming the UFO Hunters series name is their original idea. According to the website of the company filming the UFO based series for the History Channel, the original name was going to be “UFO Road Trip”, which may have been changed to UFO Hunters after the SciFi Channel announced a series with that name in July of last year. Just because the History Channel filed for trademark registration of the mark “UFO HUNTERS” in October of last year, six days before the film company filming for SciFi, doesn’t mean they had the series name idea first.
A quick check of the Motion Picture Production, Inc. website clearly shows what the name of the History Channel series was going to be, and it wasn’t UFO Hunters. The website is still referring to it as “UFO Road Trip”, which is a 13 part series being filmed to be shown on the History Channel, and the History Channel is sending out promos and press releases saying their “UFO Hunters” is going to be a new 13 part series. What are the odds of that…???
On http://www.ufohunters.net is a screenshot of the Motion Picture Production, Inc. website, referring to the “other” name.

I flipped between the two “UFO Hunters” shows last night. Sorry Sci-Fi/Pilgrim Films, the History Channel show was more interesting.

I think the competition of two series with the same name was very stupid and show that the executives of the two channels like compeetition than delivery a better level of production,as showed by the two productions, nothing new under the sun..
The most funny and ridiculous is that the two compiting production companies are in california, but the networks heads in New York, and as final epitaph, the two channels are part of a multinational banner owns by NBC Universal….
Big Brother is compeing against Himself and the ET’s Weeping for You!

Not matter the similar names and the race for the “cosmic cup”,the History Channels showed a better level of development and execution.
Unfortunatly all this shows they don’t get anywhere as the phenomena is ilusive as always, and bringing to the lab, either landing traces or hairs from hairy critters or laked snakes are continue ” lost in translation”…a non physical phenomena can be researched througth our physical sciences and expect results inside of the cannons of our limited scope of understanding of the cosmos and life above all.
Unfortunatly television is money,is not culture and is not science, and neither of the two channels are for give you pure or unmaniupulated trues.

what a huge disappointment the History Channel offering is!!
The first episode showed the “hunters” bumbling around on a beach and diving underwater (briefly), in both cases scooping surface debris like they expected to easily find evidence of something that happened 60 years ago!! Holy crappola, Batman! Even I, a plump middle-aged housewife from the midwest, know better than to think 60-year old evidence would still be just lying around on a beach or lakebed!!
If this show doesn’t get brains, and fast, they will do more to boost the notion that UFO-ologists are loons than to further their cause!

My husband is a UFO junkie and is really upset with the childish way you and the history channel are acting you need to be adults and put your shows on at different times and stop this war so people can enjoy both programs your cooperation would be much respected sincerly Jeannie Smith

I enjoyed the show and would like to see and learn more.

I agree with K. Fowler’s point about how ludicrous it was to expect putative evidence of a UFO encounter in an aquatic environment to conveniently remain on a sandy surface for over fifty years. Frankly, the entire notion of searching for physical evidence is rather pointless. Radiation, divots in the ground, crop circles, etc. just won’t cut it. The existence of digital image manipulation dictates that essentially nothing but an “official” landing at some National landmark will suffice as incontrovertible proof…and I can imagine nothing more unlikely. What would such beings possibly gain from such a direct encounter? In all honesty, what would we really gain from the certain knowledge that we’re the piteously self-destructive dullards of the galactic neighborhood?
It strains credulity beyond the breaking point to imagine that after solving the immense problems of interstellar/inter-dimensional travel, the requisite technologies to achieve that feat could be tripped up by something as prosaic as a lightning strike, or that the pilots of such a craft would be so utterly incompetent as to slam into a plodding terrestrial aircraft powered by a whirligig.
I give the people involved with both of these shows a pass for making an earnest effort, but IMO, the “hunt” will remain fruitless, even if Earth really is a must see stopover on the travel itineraries of countless galactic civilizations which produce extraterrestrial equivalents of human scientists, anthropologists, and more casually inclined tourists.
I mean,( to frame an analogy in terms likely far too generous to the human element ) if you had a pet chimpanzee, would you ever contemplate handing him a loaded gun, expect him to comprehend how your television set operates, or believe that he could be capable of sharing a philosophical insight?……C’mon!

Well i don’t know if “UFO’s” are real but I watched this video that my son shot on June 6, 2008 at about 1:30 am., in Merritt, BC. It looks like a bright light up in the sky. it changes from round to oval shaped and changes colors and the lights will sometimes act like strob lights. there are even 2 or 3 tiny little ones around the big one. there is a point where it just slowly shrinks and dissapears, only to reappear about an hour later in a slightly different place. I watched and felt this overwhelming feeling I don’t know if it was fright or shear excitement.

I know a retired air force Master Sargent who ran radar stations. In 1947 in England he observed a UFO on radar that traveled straight up thought the sky and disappeared into space. He said that the craft was traveling at 4000 mph and accelerating straight up into space. He took the Radar tapes to Right Paterson Air force Base and delivered the info. to the Air force. While there he was right next to a hanger that was heavily guarded by private security. He said that the remains of the Roswell crash was store there. This incident was also covered up with false cover story. This guy did not lie and did not make this up. It effected him greatly and he devised a theory that that the UFOs were responsible for human life on earth. So if you want to find the remains of Roswell there at Right Paterson Air Force Base

UFO Hunters is a ridiculous show; it spends more time trying to dramatize their pseudo-scientific reenactment of some stale “event†that occurred years ago rather than on new research. “Blinking†Bill Birnes has a propensity for declaring any event that cannot be readily explained by science as evidence for the existence of UFO’s. Cancel the show and replace it one having with REAL members of the scientific community such as Stanton Friedman or Michio Kaku exploring the subject. UFO Hunters is so silly that I refuse to watch it any more.
Frank says
I totally agree. The premise for this show is great, but the delivery and cast of characters are disengaging and rather boring. Their methods are questionable, the cases they take on and investigate, on camera no less, are either too old, or lack any real substance.
OTher than that it is a great show.

around 1957 my friend & i saw a very large round shape in the sky in broad
daylight-it was a very dull silver and made no noise. it was still at first, then
began to move to the left and then to the right-then it moved forward. we looked
at this object and became scared-we ran to a neighbors house and when they
came out- it was gone. we had seen this object for about 35 sec.-this was
about 50 yrs. ago. would love to know what that was.

It was dec.17,2004 and I and a friend was going north on 131 between grand rapids mi,and grayling mi. We were going to the mackinac brigde it was around 2 in the morning we were just talking I was driving. When all of sudden this thing was hovering over us it was a long cigar shaped with blue, green smoke or lights I was not sure. My friend tells me do u see that,so I roll my window down and I swear u could not here a thing but it was keeping up with us.and if that’s not strangew enough at that moment there weren’t no cars in front of me behind me nor on other side of the highway,it was crazy it was like that for like 30 seconds to a minute then all of a sudden it just took off at this enormous speed I’ve never seen anything like that before, nor since and I know it was not a plane cuz this thing was qiuet when it took off like that thewres no plane that could do what that thing did and ever since then I’ve been obsessed with ufo’s

My wife and me TiVo the show and watch it all the time. Notably the title sequences change and the shows are updated with new information all the time. The work put into the show by all the cast and crew and the overall content has shown a passion for the art of cinema and a real heart felt effort on their part to prove the inevitable answer to wether our existence has bubbled up from primal stew or is it possible more than just us have something to do with our making like an experimental bio project and earth is the petrie dish for the gods. We know some of our leaders don’t live on this planet with some of the things they suggest we all do for the good of the hole, and by the mere possibility that their might be something we do not know keeps us riveted for the next TiVo Season Pass Fav to come up. Your new show Connection X is hot too. I wonder how Mr. Stanton is these days having met him at the Palladium in LA in the mid 60’s he is an honorable man.
Thank you so much for all you do.

In the early 50’s, my two brothers and i were playing basketball in our back yard around dusk. there was a suddon brightness around us, we looked up and there was a circular glowing disk shaped object directly above us, floating with colored lights. This frighteded us and we ran inside our home. My memory is still very vivid about that night. the object suddenly took off in a zig zag matter and dissapeared into the night sky. If i remember correctly, there was several newspapaper articles published as others had seen something that same evening. this happened in the town of Pittsburg, Ohio near Arcanum, Ohio
My two brothers and i still talk about this expierence. I was 11 or 12 yrs old at this time and now I will be 68 yrs old this year

I remember living behind a church were Brian Lamb, and a bunch of these CNN guys used too have a wood shop. At that place of residence someone thought I needed an exorcist, after playing in the mud the way very young children will sometimes with my uncle who mixed a glass of this red clay in water and told me it was chocolate milk. After doing so I broke out with ring worm all over my body and my mom told me it was writing that could not be understood so she had a priest come in from the church. I had a fever of well over a hundred and I was a bloody mess with the infection. The priest came in with outer guys and one had a camera. One priest would throw me across the room well the other snapped a picture. I would fall on furniture and the floor and they would tell me get on the bed, don’t get off the bed very loud and when I would crawl back on the bed they would pick me up and throw me over and over again well the other priest would snap another picture and this went on till one guy said we have enough picture and they left me in the blood, mud, and bedding, then my aunt came in with some save that was for ring worm. She spread the save and kidded me about dying when the rings got to my heart. After getting well I went back to the wood shop and the guys had made me a special shield and gave me my sword which were both made of wood and I had to fight one of the guys in my shorts because I did not want to remove them and the other guy was naked. I was still not up too speed and lost the battle. They then called me the bad guy and this group was supposed to be my gate keeper or something like that appointed by the priests. My Dad did not like them much also but that did not matter much because someone at the church was going to be my new dad till he said no, my mom cried allot, my dad was gone and I healed up, but I still have a case
