Slice of SciFi #107: Voicemail Show

May 8, 2007 By Summer Brooks 4 Comments

This is the show for our fans and listeners! We’re receiving so much voicemail and email feedback commentary that we can’t even fit all of it into it’s own show anymore. But that’s okay… Keep it coming!

HERE THERE MAY BE SPOILERS!!

Michael, Summer, Brian, Evo, and Tim handle the voicemail responsibilities this week.

    To set the record straight:

For Mike in Brandon; Stargate Atlantis is in it’s 3rd season and season’s 1 & 2 are out on DVD. (Stargate SG1 is in it’s 10th season (the final) and season’s 1-9 are out on DVD.)

For Tim; the iTunes store sells it’s video in 480P. Which is better than standard-def TV broadcast which is 480I

    Tad…

    Not to pick nits, but…..,

UNLESS, it is a side-by-side comparison – I challenge anyone to look at a 480i vs a 480p and tell me the difference. If you put them next to each other, you’ll see a ‘Small’ improvement. But not just in normal viewing.

To take it the next step. The same can be said for 1080i vs 1080p. (“Depending on the tv!”) If the set is optomized for 1080p, then yeah, the improvment is clear. But for straight HD ready sets. Not really that much improvement for the extra cash outlay.

    Ok, I’m done now.

1080i vs 1080p? I’m with the spokespeople. I totally don’t know what that means. And since I’m too poor/cheap to buy an HD set, I don’t really care 🙂

    Mike –

To kick a dead horse some more…my point wasn’t that there is much difference between 480I and 480P, but was a counter point to Tim’s claim that video quality from the the iTunes store is lower than standard broadcast. It is actually better, not much better, but certainly not worse.

    Okay, now I’m done.
