Batman’s David Goyer is bringing another one of DC Comics’ superheroes to the big screen. Along with wife and partner Jessika Borsiczky, he will produce a new theatrical film production called “Super Max.”
Goyer, who helped co-write “Batman Begins” with Christopher Nolan, and who is sharing writing duties for “The Dark Knight” with brothers Chris and Jonah Nolan, will be keeping to the darker themes presented in the Batman flicks. This one follows the story around the Green Arrow.
The Green Arrow’s identity has been exposed, he gets put into a notorious prison for the worst kind of criminals, many of which he helped to incarcerate and who now want to kill him. He is stripped of his super powers, “”They shave his goatee and they take his costume and send him to prison for life,” commented Goyer. And, he has to escape, soon finding himself making the attempt with several of the same inmates and villains he put away.
While Goyer is busy getting scripter Justin Marks’ “Super Max” Green Arrow project off the starting line he is also busy with the script for the anticipated remake of the classic SF movie “Scanners” and putting the finishing touches on another flick currently in production, the SF film “Jumper” starring Samuel L. Jackson, Diane Lane and Hayden Christensen. “Jumper” is due out in theaters by February 2008.
In one more tidbit of Goyer news, he and David Heyman are co-producing a big-screen version of the James A. Owen fantasy novel “Here, There Be Dragons,” based on the real and fantasy lives of J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Charles Williams.

As a comics geek, I feel the need to point out a slight inaccuracy in the story. Green Arrow doesn’t have any super powers. He’s a really good archer. Well, unless you count the ability to seduce women with ease a super power, which many geeks would.

As one devoid of such prowess, yes aiming your arrow straight and seducing the ladies is a rare superpower. 🙂
