Roswell Considers Theme Park

Roswell Considers Theme Park

January 2, 2007 By S. K. Sloan 3 Comments

Zach Montgomery, planning director for the city of Roswell, N.M., said that the city is the ideal place to build an alien-themed amusement park, the Roswell Daily Record reported. According to a feasibility study completed by New Mexico State University’s Arrowhead Business Center, the universal association between the city of Roswell and aliens makes the idea much more viable in the area.

“This is not a guaranteed project, but it has gone farther than any other theme park that has been considered for the city of Roswell, and it’s looking very positive,” Montgomery told the paper. “This project will add greatly to the things to do for the visitors that visit our great city in search of answers regarding aliens and UFOs, and the tax benefits and profits that could be realized from a project of this magnitude are tremendous.”

Roswell became the subject of worldwide attention in 1947, when materials from an unknown craft were recovered in the desert outside the city. Since the incident, there has been intense speculation that government conspired to conceal a crashed alien spaceship. The proposed theme park would have rides, a learning center and interactive stations where guests could do research on their own.

I’ve been wondering why they didn’t have something like this before. It’s the only reason that I’d bother to go to Roswell. The residents have a problem with their town being know as an alien freak town and think that a theme park will further that image. Too late! If they had an alien theme park, I’d make a point to visit Roswell! Right now it’s just a fly-over.
