In a first for ABC, the alphabet network will give its new scifi show “Kyle XY,” which debuts on June 26 on the ABC Family Network, a second look on the regular ABC Network. The first four episodes will get re-aired on Friday nights at 9PM ET/PT.
Rumor has it that after the scathing ABC got for cancelling this past season’s ABC scifi show “Invasion” while leaving fans of the show in the lurch with the unanswered cliffhanger, this is ABC’s way of saying “SORRY!” The network is also adding a little icing on that sorry cake by making “Kyle XY” free to download from iTunes on Tuesday, June 20th – a week before it debuts on the cable network.

The thing that pissed me off the most with “Invasion” wasn’t that they cancelled it (although, yes, it did, too), but that they had said that it was going to be picked up early in season 1, then decided to change their minds at the end. Yeah, I know: it’s their network, they can do whatever the hell they want to, but come on.
I think they called for an early renewel just to see if it would draw in higher numbers, and if they got what they wanted, they might have renewed. Might.

Piss-poor way of saying sorry. Invasion, while it had its issues, was far better than the other sci-fi shows that debuted last year (sorry fans of Surface and Nightstalker).

I still think Threshold was better than Invasion, and I’m speaking as a huge fan of Shaun Cassidy’s work on American Gothic.
I wonder if Threshold’s full story could be wrapped up in a series of made-for-TV movies…
