This is a mixed up rumor. They are releasing the first 8 seasons in new Slim packaging like The first season of Stargate: Atlantis. This will not be a full 8 season box set, each season will be released seperately.
Sam says
The article lays no claim to a Box Set, only that they will be re-released as a special DVD collection. However, at least for the moment, from all that we have been able to gather, it isn’t clear whether the release will be as a set or individually. That is why we weren’t specific on that point in the story.

According to http://www.tvshowsondvd.com, Sony reps have confirmed that it will not be a big box set, but that it will be individual sets of Seasons 1-8 in the new slimline boxes.
