Space Adventures, already a growing private commerical company involved in the development of rockets and ships for suborbital flights, announced today a massive $265 million plan to build a large spaceport in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The actual location of the civilian space launching enterprise will be in the city of Ras Al-Khaimah on the UAE’s southern Persian Gulf coast.
The UAE coughed up an additional $30 million to have the project brought to their shores.
It may be remembered that Space Adventures is the company responsible for sending the first ever space tourist to the International Space Station (ISS). So far, three tourists have taken the Space Adventures ISS tour at a cost to the tourists of $20 million each.
