Like That Bunny, Shatner Just Keeps Going and Going

July 8, 2005 By S. K. Sloan Leave a Comment

William Shatner is at the Top of His Game

When most people reach Shatner’s age they think about slowing down or taking long vacations to the Keys. Not William Shatner. He is staying very active these days.

The Emmy winning actor and accomplished author has so many irons in the fire it is amazing that he can keep up with what is next on his agenda.

He has finished the last of his Captain Kirk Trilogies “Captain’s Glory,” which will be on the book shelves very soon. Filming for the new season of the highly aclaimed Boston Legal begins this month and moves to its new time-slot on ABC’s Tuesday night schedule this fall.

His Charity Horse Show benefits are a huge success, SPLAAT continues to surprise even the most jaded paint-ball enthusiasts and his CD “Has Been” is still a big seller, even nearly a year after its release. And then there is all those annual convention appearances.

Now, if all that isn’t enough Shatner will be hosting an upcoming documentary by Montreal filmmaker Alan Handel. It will be based on one of Shatner’s books entitled “I’m Working on That: A Trek from Science Fiction to Science Fact.” The Discovery Cable Channel group will be showing the program on its next season’s schedule. On which Discovery venue it will be shown will depend on where you live. For those who live in Canada it will be seen on The Discovery Channel. If you live in England expect to see it on Channel 5. American viewers can catch the two-hour documentary on The History Channel. If you live in any other part of the globe check your local Discovery Channel franchise because Discovery Channel International has promised to air it on over 100 of its global affiliates.

The show will look at scientific ideas that have come into existence as a direct result of the influence of Star Trek. Shatner will interview scientists, technicians and astronauts who claim to have gotten their inspiration and ideas from the various Star Trek TV programs, novels and movies.

I only have one request of Mr. Shatner; Bill, I don’t know what you put in your coffee, but I want some too.
