The project was initiated by Lightstorm, James Cameron’s production company, DMG Entertainment and Studiocanal. James Cameron’s team oversaw this 3D conversion from start to finish. This highly experienced and award-winning team had already supervised Titanic’s 3D conversion and is currently working on the Avatar sequels. [Read more…]
It’s a good Halloween movie, one that teenagers should see if they’re having a holiday slumber party. As a piece of film narrative I don’t think it’s that strong, but as a Halloween thrill-ride it’s pretty decent. Be aware that there are two post-credit sequences so if you’re a fan of those then be sure to stay all the way through until all the credits have finished rolling. [Read more…]
In trying to serve multiple masters, The Dark Tower leaves too much out of it’s world building and shoves too much in your face as a given simultaneously. Aspects of the film and and story that otherwise would be more than just visually unsettling are glossed over or left unexplored. [Read more…]
As someone who has never read the books I cannot speak to whether or not it does justice to its source material. The little I have heard from fans of the book does not seem positive towards the movie. However, as someone who is not already invested in this world I found quite a bit to enjoy. [Read more…]

Noah and Daren are huge comic book fans and have been looking forward to this film for a long time, despite not being familiar with the original comic.
But the lack of chemistry between the main characters and the dialogue falling flat adversely affected the enjoyment of the visually stunning parts of the film. [Read more…]
If you’ve ever wondered what a haunted house looks like from the side of the ghost, or contemplated what would keep you from moving on if you died, or how you’d handle an inexplicable (after)life turn, then A Ghost Story is just the movie to leave you with more questions than answers and ready to work your life to-do list with a vengeance to avoid dying with unfinished business. If you don’t mind a slower movie, one that is thought provoking and brilliant on many levels, I would recommend this one. It is a slow exploration of many concepts, most especially what legacy we leave behind, what we leave for others to find and what we need in order to leave the past behind us. [Read more…]
Rise of the Planet of the Apes and it blew me away, not only with the technology but the story it told. Now here we are at the third in the new reboot series, War for the Planet of the Apes. It is just as outstanding as the other two before it and brings the prequels to a stunning, beautiful resolution that I don’t think can be equaled. [Read more…]
