Bizarre News Artistic E.T. At It Again

Posted by Sam on Wednesday, 18 Jun 2008

Another mysterious crop circle has appeared in the English countryside outside Wroughton, Wiltshire, England. While its creator remains a mystery the symbolism inherent in the crop circle isn’t…..it’s an abstract representation of pi, the number at the center of Euclidean geometry.

What makes it even more intriguing is the fact that one can’t know that unless seen from above.

Woman Wakes 17 hours after pronounced dead — Rigor Mortis Set-in

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A West Virginia woman was being transferred to the Cleveland Clinic after walking the line between life and death.

Doctors are calling Val Thomas a medical miracle. They said they can’t explain how she is alive.

They said Thomas suffered two heart attacks and had no brain waves for more than 17 hours. At about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, her heart stopped and she had no pulse. A respiratory machine kept her breathing and rigor mortis had set in, doctors said.

“Her skin had already started to harden and her fingers curled. Death had set in,” said son Jim Thomas.

They rushed her to a West Virginia hospital. Doctors put Thomas on a special machine which induces hypothermia. The treatment involves lowering the body temperature for up to 24 hours before warming a patient up.

After that procedure, her heart stopped again.

“She had no neurological function,” said Dr. Kevin Eggleston.

Her family said goodbye and doctors removed all the tubes.

However, Thomas was kept on a ventilator a little while longer as an organ donor issue was discussed.

Ten minutes later the woman woke up and started talking.

“She (nurse) said, ‘I’m so sorry Mrs. Thomas.’ And mom said, ‘That’s OK honey. That’s OK,” Jim Thomas said.

Val Thomas and her family strongly believe that the Lord granted them their miracle and they want everyone to know.

“I know God has something in store for me, another purpose. I don’t know what it is but I’m sure he’ll tell me,” she said.

She was taken to the Cleveland Clinic for specialist to check her out. Doctors said amazingly she has no blockage and will be fine.

Bizarre News Star Wars comes to Holyhead as Darth Vader Strikes Back in Jedi’s Back Garden

Posted by Sam on Wednesday, 2 Apr 2008

Written by: Tom Chivers for the Telegraph

nhelmet128.jpgA Star Wars fan got closer to his idols than he would perhaps have liked when he was attacked in his garden by Darth Vader.

Jedi Master Jonba Hehol - known to family and friends as Barney Jones, 36, of Holyhead - was giving a TV interview in his back garden for a documentary when a man, dressed in a black bin-bag and wearing Darth Vader’s trademark shiny black helmet, leapt over his garden fence.

Wielding a metal crutch - his lightsaber presumably being in for repairs - the Sith Lord proceeded to lay about his opponent, whose Jedi powers proved inadequate for the task of defending himself.

After besting Master Hehol in single combat, Vader, who The Sun reports was under the influence of alcohol, went on to assault the camera crew and a hairdresser.

Master Hehol, a hairdresser, who founded the first-ever British Jedi Church in loving homage to the world-famous science fiction franchise with his brother Daniel, was unimpressed by the revenge of the Sith.

“This wasn’t a joke. This was serious,” he said.

Police are investigating a claim of assault.

The Jedi “religion” was born as a joke in the 2001 census, when almost 400,000 people claimed to believe in the Jedi faith.

Based on the teachings of Yoda, the crinkly green dwarf of the films, the “church” has a branch in Florida and plans to open another in the Philippines.

You can, for a sum of course, have your ashes or body placed in a specially made Star Trek Urn or Casket.

Bizarre News There’s No Place Like a Jetson Home

Posted by Sam on Friday, 14 Mar 2008

flysaucerhome.JPGA mountainside house will be auctioned off to the highest bidder this weekend. It has become a favorite stop-over for picture takers so if you can tolerate a lack of privacy, even in the woods, then this flying saucer house my be your next home.

Called a circular home, this was the talk of the town back in the 70’s, but today, even though we’ve come several steps closer in our technology to the age envisioned by the likes of Roddenberry, Heinlein and Bradbury, from the outside this house looks cool, but strangely outdated.

The UFO styled house made a landing in the Signal Mountain range near Chattanooga, Tennessee over 30 years ago.

The ringed home boasts of three bedrooms, two baths retractable staircases, all being held up by six landing pods.

Built from scratch, this one is unlike those pre-fab saucer homes that were all the rage several years back. The builder, the late Curtis W. King, paid meticulous attention to detail with this Tennessee saucer.

“It really looked like a spaceship ready to take off,” realtor Lois Killebrew told the Associated Press.

Speaking of the King family who were the first residents of the unique house Killebrew said, “they liked to do unusual things.”

“She is an adult; she made her own decision,” said her boyfriend, Kory McFarren. “I should have gotten help for her sooner; I admit that. But after a while, you kind of get used to it.”

The case drew nationwide attention after Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple said it appeared the Ness City woman’s skin had grown around the seat in the two years she apparently was in the bathroom.

“We pried the toilet seat off with a pry bar and the seat went with her to the hospital,” Whipple said. “The hospital removed it.”

Bizarre News Was Moses Was High on Drugs? Israeli Researcher Says Yes!

Psychedelic Cocktail May Explain Vision of the Burning Bush, Professor Says

moses_080305_ms.jpgJERUSALEM, March 5, 2008 — Moses and the Israelites were on drugs, says Benny Shanon, an Israeli professor of cognitive philosophy.

Writing in the British Journal Time and Mind, he claims Moses was probably on psychedelic drugs when he received the Ten Commandments from God.

The assertions give a whole new meaning to Moses being “high” on Mount Sinai.

According to Shanon, a professor at Hebrew University, two naturally existing plants in the Sinai Peninsula have the same psychoactive components as ones found in the Amazon jungle and are well-known for their mind-altering capabilities. The drugs are usually combined in a drink called ayahuasca.

“As far as Moses on Mount Sinai is concerned, it was either a supernatural cosmic event, which I don’t believe, or a legend, which I don’t believe either, or finally, and this is very probable, an event that joined Moses and the people of Israel under the effects of narcotics,” he told Israel Radio in an interview Tuesday.

The description in The Book of Exodus of thunder, lightening and a blaring trumpet, according to Shanon, are the classic imaginings of people under the influence of drugs.

As for the vision of the burning bush, well obviously that too was a drug-fueled hallucination, according to Shanon.

“In advanced forms of ayahuasca inebriation,” he wrote, “the seeing of light is accompanied by profound religious and spiritual feelings.”

Shanon admits he took some of these drugs while in the Amazon in 1991. “I experienced visions that had spiritual-religious connotations,” he said.

The initial reaction to this controversial theory from Israel’s religiously orthodox community and the powerful rabbis who lead it was less than enthusiastic.

Orthodox rabbi Yuval Sherlow, quoted by Reuters speaking on Israel radio, said: “The Bible is trying to convey a very profound event. We have to fear not for the fate of the biblical Moses, but for the fate of science.”

Christina Ryan, 28, was leaving a breakfast Sunday at the Loews Ventana Canyon Hotel in Tucson, Ariz., when the wily serpent — coiled at the bottom of some concrete steps — struck, biting her on the foot.

Luckily, Mrs. Idaho — registered nurse Lauralyn Salinas, 37 — was with her and was able to extract the snake’s fang from Ryan’s skin, The Tennessean reported.

“I guess he bit me and let go,” Ryan told the paper. “I ran up the stairs and became totally hysterical … It hurt worse than childbirth.”

Bizarre News Hello! I’m a PC — and, I’m a Brain Eating Mac

Posted by Sam on Sunday, 27 May 2007

zombie-gnaws-on-imac_270×405.jpgWhen you think of Apple’s iMac computers the last thing that comes to mind is probably a zombie chowing down on the brains of the system — its memory.

But, on May 25th (Friday) that is exactly what customers at a downtown San Francisco Apple store were witness to. A group of about 150 zombies, decaying flesh, dripping blood and all, decended on the Union Square store, bringing about chaos and sheer terror to its customers as the living dead proceeded to gnaw away at the chassis’ of several iMacs trying to get at its central brain and memory core.

The event was the brain-child (excuse the pun) of EatBrains.com. “SF Zombie Mob 2007″ wasn’t quite as chaotic as one might imagine, but was well organized and all in fun. Even some of the businesses (including the Apple store and Nordstrom) invaded by the fans dressed as zombies got into the fun spirit of the event and didn’t hit the panic button or call the police. It was all in fun and everyone, even those taken aback, had great fun and a good laugh. However, some of the stores, such as the Disney store and the security guards at the Westfield Mall tried to keep the zombies at bay — Party Poopers! Okay, I can understand Disney, don’t want to scare the kiddies.

Bizarre News Protectionist Laws for Bigfoot?

Posted by Sam on Saturday, 26 May 2007

At the behest of Todd Standing, a constituent of Mike Lake, a Canadian member of parliament from Edmonton, Alberta, took a 500 signed-named petition calling for protection of Bigfoot, a.k.a. Sasquatch and Yeti to Lake who was ready to submit it to the House of Commons for consideration. The bill, if taken seriously and passed would have put the mythical creature under the protection of Canada’s Endangered Species Act.

Fortunately saner minds within the House of Commons prevailed and Lake, under strong rebuke and criticism, removed the petition before it ever reached the debate floor.

Standing claims to have definitive proof for the existence of Bigfoot and states that if he can get a nation to pass legislation that will protect the creature then he will make his findings public knowledge.

“When I get species protection for them nationwide, I will make my findings public and I will take this out of the realm of mythology. Bigfoot is real,” Standing said.

After the petition was soundly removed from debate Lake, with his proverbial tale between his legs made this written statement: “I take seriously my responsibility to represent all of my constituents, regardless of whether or not I agree with their views. If a legitimate petition is brought forward by one of my constituents and deemed to be in order, I feel it is my duty to table it in the House.”

Some members of the Commons stated that they take endangered species protection very seriously, but to submit a law for passage about a creature whose existence has never been proven would only serve to belittle their efforts to save real species that are nearing extinction and make a laughing stock out of the program and of Canada’s House of Commons.
