This week, Summer talks with writer/director Matt Schrader about Score: A Film Music Documentary, his exploration into how the film scores can be as beloved by fans as the movies themselves.
Matt talks about the thrill of being invited into the studios of some of today’s top composers — Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Howard Shore, Trent Reznor — and finding out firsthand about their process and how they collaborate with different directors. He also walks the audience through the history of music in film, moving from orchestral to jazz to rock & electronic then back again to orchestral, and how composers from earlier eras affected and influenced musicians and composers we are enthralled with today.
What film scores made an impression on you, and are your favorites? Leave a message at 602-635-6976, send Summer an email, or have your say below!
