This week, Daren Gulsvig joins Summer to talk with narrative designer Cam Rogers, who helped design the story in the video game “Quantum Break” and also wrote the tie-in novel Quantum Break: Zero State.
Cam tells us about what narrative design entails and infusing the human element into the game play, how much research in quantum physics they did in order to incorporate plausible story elements, the massive logistics of developing a story for a game, where he envisions the evolution of storytelling in games could go, and more.
He also talks about the novel, both where and how the book’s timeline meshes with the events in the game, while maintaining its own core story path, and a little bit about his work on the game “The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land”.
