Casual Marvel Cinematic Universe fans and many Joss Whedon fans may initially freak out at the news, but The Avengers franchise is in good hands with the Russo Brothers.
Joe and Anthony Russo are already familiar with the MCU, having co-directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and are already working on Captain America: Civil War, so helming the culminating Avengers films should be right up their alley. Not easy, but familiar. They plan to film both Part 1 and Part 2 in one long shoot, beginning in 2016 (no production dates set as yet).
The current release schedule for Marvel TV and movies (adjusted a bit to allow for Marvel’s new involvement with Sony on the new Spider-Man movie):

Avengers: Age of Ultron: May 1 2015
