Actor Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass are teaming up again for a return to the Bourne film franchise.
After the poor box office showing from the fourth Bourne film, Bourne Legacy, which did not feature Damon in that spy thriller, Universal has decided it was time to put the original band back together for a fifth movie.
Damon starred as Jason Bourne, the licensed to kill American spy who spent three films trying to uncover his lost memory and reestablish his true identity, as well as, get a little payback on those who were responsible for his dilemma. His discovery for who made the ultimate decision for his trek was a shocker to Bourne and audiences were left wondering after his cool dip if he would ever appear again. Well now the wondering is over and Jason Bourne is back!
Greengrass directed the final two Damon-Bourne films (Bourne Supremacy and Bourne Ultimatum) and is both Damon and Universal’s center-seat choice for this next film based on the famous novels from author Robert Ludlum.
Talks are currently ongoing so stay tuned to Slice of SciFi for updates.

Wait, wasn’t another movie in the series featuring Jeremy Renner already being filmed? Hmmm… what does Google say…
Huh, that movie is still on, but it might get pushed back a year in favor of this one coming to theaters first. Interesting.

I liked The Bourne Legacy. I was nice to see that it was set in a whole continuum rather than just Bourne.

Damon made a joke after the last Bourne movie he made that if he made another one, it would have to be called the Bourne Redundancy. He said he had no intention of returning to that world. I hope this one turns out to be good!

Considering how they made 3 movies (Supremacy, Ultimatum, Legacy) out of the same story told from different perspectives, including same or modified footage, yes, this next one had better be good.
I enjoyed Legacy, but was annoyed at how they spent nearly a third of the movie tracking and paralleling the events from where Supremacy & Ultimatum crossed, just to give a sense of where in the timeline Aaron’s story was happening and why. The cutaways to the additional items on the Bourne fallout afterwards was interesting, but almost too fast and random to be fully appreciated within the context of Legacy’s main story.
That said, I’ll watch both new Bourne movies, especially if someone knocks Greengrass unconscious and locks him in a trailer on the other side of town any time they need to film fight scenes. Those stunt guys prepared a long time to do those fight sequences, at least let us see them clearly, you pretentious faux-art hack (yes, I’m still bitter about the hot mess he made of what should have been an awesome fight sequence with Martin Csokas in Supremacy)
