One of the finest actresses in the history of stage and screen has died. Julie Harris passed away this week, she was 87 years old.
The winner of 6 Tony Awards for her stunning performances on Broadway. Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress, a BAFTA Film Award nomination, the Lifetime Achievement Award, winner of 2 Emmy Awards and 8 Emmy nominations to her credit.
Ms. Harris has starred in every stage, film and television genre you can think of including her riveting portrayal of Reggie Delesseps in “The Dark Half” directed by movie icon George A. Romero and co-starring Timothy Hutton and Amy Madigan. Who can forget her in the Robert Wise production of “The Haunting?” My best memory of Ms. Harris was her beautiful portrayal of “Mary Todd Lincoln” and as Abra in “East of Eden” with the legendary James Dean.
Her stunning resume boasts of well over 100 appearances on stage, film and the small screen in a career that spanned 6 decades.
