Gillian Anderson says she’s open to re-opening The X-Files on the silver screen but not as a limited run television series.
With Fox bringing back 24 as a limited run series, some X-Philes wondered if this might not be a way to bring back agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
Anderson says she’s not interested that in that avenue during a panel celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the ground-breaking television program. She was joined by co-star David Duchovny former writer (and Breaking Badcreator) Vince Gilligan, creator Chris Carter and key writers and producers.
While a third movie wasn’t officially announced, all the panel members said they would participate.
The panel spoke about how working on the series had an impact on them personally and professionally. The show served as proving ground for Gilligan, who went on to create the Emmy winning series Breaking Bad.
Carter said that he created Scully as his “fantasy woman.”
“She was strong and smart and opinionated and resourceful and tough. All the things I like. It was a fantasy relationship that was more intellectual than it was anything else,” Carter said.
