Actress Sarah Gadon says she is not playing Peter Parker’s love interest Mary Jane Watson in the Amazing Spider-Man sequel.
The Cosmopolis actress was rumored to be playing Peter Parker’s love interest after confirming that she had landed a role in the upcoming sequel.
Shailene Woodley was initially cast as Mary Jane, but is apparently leaving the franchise due to all of her scenes in the sequel being cut.
Gadon has responded to the speculation about her casting in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Twitter by clarifying that she was not in fact hired as a replacement for Woodley.
“To all those a twitter, I will not be playing MJ in Spider-Man. I have a role in the film, but it is not that one,” she wrote.
The character of Mary Jane Watson is expected to feature as the love interest in the recently announced Spider-Man 3 and 4.
