The late ’90s anime Kite is on its way to the big screen in a live-action remake. Long time anime fans will probably be familiar with this title by reputation at least, in part due to the controversial nature of the original film.
India Eisley and Callan McAuliffe will join Samuel L. Jackson in the film. Ralph Ziman will be taking over the directing duties following the passing of the late David R. Ellis.
The new version is described as a character-driven action film. Taking place in a failed state after the financial collapse, Kite will follow Sawa (Eisley), a young woman who vows to find the killer of her policeman father with the help of his ex-partner, Karl Aker (Jackson). McAuliffe has been tapped to play the childhood friend of Sawa who comes to her rescue.
