Sure, he’s working on The Avengers 2, a pilot for S.H.I.E.L.D. and the sequel to Doctor Horrible. But what does Joss Whedon want to do after all that’s done?
The answer will have Browncoats squealing for joy.
Whedon says he’d still like to see a sequel to Serenity.
It’s something I would love to do,” Whedon told the Toronto Sun of a second Firefly movie. “Part of me is like, ‘God, it would be great when I finish Avengers 2 to do [a sequel]’.”
The writer/director said that he would “never really accept” that Firefly is over for good. “I always, in the back of my head, think, ‘What if I could get the old gang back together?’,” he admitted.
Before you get too excited, this isn’t news that anything is or will happen. But it’s nice to know that it could…someday.

You would think with The Avengers then the sequel he would have some major pull. If Joss really wants to get a sequel to Serenity made then he can make it happen.

Yeah sure this guy did Buffy and Firefly but what has he done lately?
krazeytrucker says
You’re kidding right? Have you not heard of a little film called “The Avengers”?

I love how some people don’t pick up on sarcasm. Skiznot, you have a special talent for subtle sarcastic internet posts. Never change.
Skiznot says
Yeah I was kidding. Really, how much clout does he need to be able to pick what he wants to make? Or how much success does it take before he can pay for it all himself?

I have heard stated that the Firefly (and/or Serenity) crowd is growing smaller while its enthusiasm yet continues to intensify. And, THAT statement seems to have been used to dismiss summarily the significance of the fans’ pleas for more Firefly … more Serenity. My question is: Just where the hell is THAT supposed data coming from? Any low brow with a shrunken brain case can assert any arbitrarily fictionalized stat that suits them. Doing so, however eruditely as one might wish, does not secure one iota of credence. Sometimes, I cannot fathom the crap some folk expect us to swallow. Out here in the hinterland, there the many less vocal fans (who never get counted or considered) who dream that Joss Whedon will magically find some way to pursue the Firefly/Serenity cinematic ideal. It is not just a TV series. It is not just a movie. It is a cultural imperative! The Egyptians enslaved and built pyramids. The Greeks wrote plays and built temples. The Romans conquered and ravished. Nowadays, we invent wars, fly into space, and make movies. Each era has its expressions. Let us throw off the outrageous fallacies of inept naysayers and get this job done! … Make another damn movie already! … “I aim to misbehave!”
