The big-screen adaptation of the best-selling novel Robopacalypse has been on indefinite hold.
According to the Wrap, director Steven Spielberg says the film is too important and the price tag would be too high for it to be his next project. Production on the film was set to begin later this year with a projected opening in 2014.
The movie is based on the best-selling novel by Daniel H. Wilson, which explores what happens when the robots and machines that are an integral part of our world suddenly revolt, wiping out much of mankind and leaving only scattered survivors.
Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway were supposed to lead the cast, and it’s not clear whether Spielberg will be able to get them back on board whenever he restarts production on the movie.
